In January 2020 at the invitation of The Prince’s Foundation and HRH The Prince of Wales, a group of families gathered from around the world at Dumfries House in East Ayrshire, Scotland to discuss and respond to His Royal Highness’s call to action for private investors to harness their capital to drive real change. This gathering resulted in the creation of Sustainable Future.


Inspired by the impact and surroundings of Dumfries House Estate, Sustainable Future’s efforts will incorporate The Prince’s Foundation’s guiding principles - Creating Harmonious Communities; Respecting the Past. An Advisory Board of 20 leading family offices, chaired by Trevor Neilson, Co-founder and CEO of i(x) investments, will lead the initiative. Other Co-founding advisory board members include Alan Schwartz, Executive Chairman, Guggenheim Partners; Louis de Ségur de Charbonnières, Executive Chairman of Time Family Office and of Enseada Family Office; James Wilcox, Floreat, Managing Partner; and Jonathan Klein, Getty Images, Co-Founder & Deputy Chairman (CEO 1995-2015), General Catalyst, XIR.
Sustainable Future has four primary strategies:
  • Engage the world’s leading families in sustained commitment to making investments that generate top-tier returns while creating measurable social impact
  • Convene these families for periodic meetings where investment opportunities are shared
  • Report publicly about the investments and impact made and provide case studies about how families are addressing the world’s challenges through private investment
  • Drive support for Dumfries House as an exemplar of HRH’s vision of sustainable practices
